Singer Steel Company recently installed a Red Bud 1/2" Cut-To-Length Line with a Stretcher Leveler and a SCS® Sheet Cleaning Line for their Streetsboro, Ohio, service center. This powerful combo gives Singer Steel the ability to produce ultra-flat material from coils up to 75" (1,905 mm) wide with weights up to 80,000 lb (36,288 kg). The SCS System is a patented process that takes hot rolled black material through a simple, environmentally friendly process to produce a smooth, clean paintable surface that is rust resistant without the use of oils. The resulting “laser-quality” material is ideal particularly for downstream laser cutting applications.
Red Bud’s 1/2" Stretcher Leveler is revolutionizing the way processors level heavy gage material. Instead of roller leveling or temper passing the material, a Red Bud Stretcher Leveler stretches the material until it is flat. This stretching action eliminates nearly all trapped internal stresses, producing flat material that stays flat. It is easier to use than a traditional Leveler and operates virtually independent of incoming strip shape and severity.
A SCS Cleaning System takes ‘down & dirty’ hot rolled black and gives it a clean, smooth, highly paintable rust resistant surface. The heart of this patented process is a controlled “brushing away” of all surface scale except for a thin layer. SCS Cleaning Systems are available in both sheet and coil cleaning configurations.
